Reality TV star Uriel Oputa has publicly defended media personality Toke Makinwa after social commentator Solomon Buchi made controversial remarks about her pregnancy.
In a video shared on his social media platforms, Buchi congratulated Toke on her pregnancy but criticized her for “spiritualizing” the moment. He argued that Makinwa’s choice to have a child outside of marriage does not align with biblical principles, insisting that a “Jesus girl” should not be celebrating such a decision.
Buchi’s comments sparked swift reactions online, with many accusing him of being judgmental and insensitive. While he admitted that Makinwa has the right to make her own choices, his message suggested that motherhood outside wedlock should not be glorified.
Uriel Oputa, however, was not having it. Taking to Instagram, the Big Brother Naija star slammed Buchi, stressing that he had no right to comment on a woman’s reproductive decisions, especially without knowing the struggles or personal battles she may have faced.
“Why should a man feel so entitled to weigh in on a woman’s womb or her choices?” Uriel questioned. She added that conversations about fertility and motherhood are deeply personal and should not be subjected to unsolicited moral policing.
Her post has since gained traction, with fans and fellow celebrities applauding her for speaking up in support of Makinwa. Many social media users echoed Uriel’s sentiment, pointing out that women often endure silent battles when it comes to fertility, and deserve compassion rather than condemnation.
